This past weekend, my husband, his brother & wife and I took a day trip to Mt Rainier. It is one of the biggest Mountains here in Washington.
It was a wonderful day. The drive to the National Park was a nice scenic drive. It was only about 3 - 4 hours away from where we live. It was supposed to be the peak of the wildflower season.
The first stop we made was the Trail of the Patriarchs -- this is a short 1 1/2 mile hike in to the forest to view large old trees -- some were well over 7oo years old. The hike was an easy one. The trail was well maintained, and it did not have a lot of ups and downs. I did the hike with out any problems.
After this we drove up to Paradise Lodge. Trisha and I stayed at the lodge while the menfolk hike the 4 hour - 7 mile hike up to Paradise Glacier. That is where most of the wildflowers grow. It is a hard climb rising many feet in elevation. Us girls (Healthy as we are LOL) opted not to climb. The boys took plenty of pictures so that we felt like we were there.
